Sgt. Maxwell’s Peace Chorus presents
WHY DO WE GO TO WAR?

Sgt. Maxwell’s Peace Chorus evolved out of a massive
anti-war media event on April 15, 2007 that brought together
44 of Boston’s top vocalists (including John Powhida,
Emily Grogan, Casey Desman, Corin Ashley, and Mick Mondo)
and a star-studded 13-piece band that included members of
Mission of Burma, Morphine, and Rick Berlin. This group of
artists recorded “End War Now,” written by T Max,
in front of the media in a party-like atmosphere. The song
went on to occupy the top ten of Neil Young’s web chart
for the summer of ’07.
Sgt. Maxwell (a.k.a. T Max, publisher of The Noise, Boston’s
longest running music magazine), kept on writing songs for
WHY DO WE GO TO WAR?, which the Peace Chorus will present
at the Peace Abbey. The show includes “Children of America”
(a plea to the young to reject all branches of the service),
“Military Men” (a Monty Python-like approach to
service men who follow orders), and “5 Mo Daze”
(a common story of a soldier counting down his final days
of service).
There are still people dying in the Iraq War so there is need
to keep the subject of a wrongful war in the face of the public.
WHY DO WE GO TO WAR? does exactly that. This form of entertainment
is the way to bring people together to air their thoughts
and feelings about the subject.
The show will be in the Peace Abbey Coffeehouse,
downstairs in the Conference Center. Refreshments will be
available.
Tickets will be available at the door: $10
donation, $5 for students and seniors.
