Anointing Children as Instruments of Peace
With the guidance of a Peace Chaplain, parents anoint their own children as an “instrument of peace.” Chaplains assist parents in gleaning the essence of all twelve world religions and then help them develop a personal pledge to rear their child in the ways of non-violence, conflict resolution and peace. Each of the faith traditions are included through the praying of Peace Seeds. There is goodness and holiness in all of us, so it is in keeping with the highest calling of parenthood to anoint one's own child an instrument of peace. It is, after all, our sacred duty and greatest privilege to rear our children for peacemaking.

Weddings and Civil Union Ceremonies
The Peace Abbey and grounds are available for special occasions offering a beautiful and inspirational setting. The Peace Abbey Chapel offers a sacred environment wherein the icons, symbols, sculptures and texts of the twelve major spiritual traditions are held.

Vegetarian Crash Course
For individuals who have made the decision to take the next step toward vegetarianism, this self-guided course will profoundly effect their view on the food they eat and the clothing they wear. This one day course (9:00-4:00 p.m.) will include selected readings, viewing animal rights films, feeding and communing with farm animals that escaped from slaughterhouses, and in-depth discussions with a vegan staff member on issues of health, factory farming, the dairy industry, animal cruelty, meat production, and the effects of a meat centered diet on the planet. The day will conclude with a meditation on peace and nonviolence.
