In the Interest of Peace

Dear Readers,

Many of us throw up our hands in frustration and ask, “What can I do possibly do for world peace?” Very close to home, in the town of Sherborn, MA stands The Peace Abbey, a multi-faith retreat center and pacifist haven. The Abbey houses a unique collection of indoor and outdoor memorials, art projects and displays inspiring peace, non-violence and pacifism in all forms. It is also home to a multi-faith chapel furnished with an astonishing collection of symbols, icons, sculptures and prayers from the twelve major religions of the world. The Abbey grounds, memorials and buildings are an exquisite living testament that peace is possible on the planet through spiritual cooperation by humanity’s tribes and through the smallest of actions by individuals. Visit the Abbey and you are guaranteed to leave hopeful, rejuvenated and uplifted. You will discover how much you matter, and how much you make a difference in the world!

In the face of wartime violence around the world, the energetic vibration of peace emitted from this small 3-acre parcel in Central Massachusetts is enormously important. For the past 20 years, a steady unwavering beam of peace and non-violence has pulsed through Earth’s energetic network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from this place. This beam has strengthened over the years with the addition of new monuments, ceremonies, events and gatherings. However, funding sources for peace have appeared to diminish to the point where the Abbey has faced foreclosure on the property over the past 2 years.

Recently, it was suggested that the Peace Abbey mortgage be taken over by 400 “shareholders for peace” who would each provide a $1,000 interest free loan to the Abbey to release it from this debt, and free all the Abbey’s energy towards accelerating its peace vibration. This is something we all can contribute to in the interest of world peace and it works! We thank you, the Abbey thanks you, and you can thank yourself!
