Dover Sherborn Press: Hope for Peace Abbey, with Magical Strings attached

Facing possible foreclosure, the money raised will go into trying to save the Abbey. There is some positive news for the Abbey. Founder Lewis Randa reports on the Abbey’s website: “Great News! New England Peace Studies Meeting

by Dot Walsh On Saturday, April 16th the New England Peace Studies Association held our annual spring conference at the Peace Abbey. This year’s theme was “Creating a Culture of Peace: Local Initiatives.” The keynote speaker, Tina Clarke, spoke on the concept of Transition Towns and the importance of local community building. It was well attended and workshops were interesting and informative. The closing event with True Story Theater kept us warm and appreciative of the many ways that people are contributing to peacemaking. Dover Sherborn Patch: Peace Abbey Seeing Support Daily

The Peace Abbey in Sherborn. By Benjamin Paulin Dot Walsh, program director and a chaplain at The Peace Abbey in Sherborn, opened up a couple envelopes that they received in the mail. In them were two checks from people donating money to help try and prevent the Abbey and Life Experience School from foreclosure. “We’ve got checks coming in like this- $50, $100. That certainly is helping,” Walsh said. “Checks will come in everyday. 1/3 Schoolhouse Mortgage Paid Off!

Great News! With a single donation from the family of a former student, over 1/3 of the schoolhouse mortgage was paid off, leaving just $38,000 owed to the bank. They gave $1,000 for each year of their daughter’s life in appreciation and love. Pass the word as we move forward to retire the Schoolhouse debt.
